Last week of “not training”

Filed under: Training — beatcancer @ 12:55 am

It was quite an odd week for not training. First off, I have never had such an intense 6 months of training in my life.  Coach Dee put me through a grueling 6 month training regime to prepare me for this last month of racing resulting in; my first sub 45 min 10km at the underwear affair (44:57)placing 23 out of 522, my first half ironman at muskoka (6:55) (including the 3 flat tires), taking 45 minutes off my 50km trail time at the Run for the Toad. placing 21 out of 153, (5:32….down to a 4:48), A new record 10 km at the zoo run 44:33, placing 128 out of 1935. Then the very next day pulling a 4th out of 69 with a new 10km Personal Best time of 42:21. Then the next day running and est.. 36km off road with my coach helping her with her last long run before her ironman.

During these 3 weeks of “not training” I’ve ran 194.73km.  This includes all the running I have done with the running clinic i teach.  This is why I put “not training” in quotes. Not training means no tempo workouts, speed workouts, weights, repeats and fartlex. With one week to go until the road to hope marathon i feel some what uncertain as to my abilities to be the 4 hour pace bunny. I feel this because of the lack of “training”. However, i think the racing and easy miles will pay off. Coach says I can begin weights and some tempo work again after the marathon.  Can’t wait.

Run for your life
