running for fun

Filed under: Training — beatcancer @ 11:13 pm

Today was a day off run training.  so what did I do? Went for a run. But I didn’t take and ipod, or heartrate monitor, gps.  Just me and the dogs hitting the trails.  No destination, no limits. I like to do that every once and a while to remind me that running is fun. Once the dogs realized that i wasn’t stopping when they wanted to they fell into stride. As Cesar Milan put it, we were exploring. Every once and a while they would stop to sniff something and pee or poo….then sprint like crazy with tonges flapping trying to catch up. It was beautiful.  Light rain/snow/sleet, 3 degrees, light layer of snow. My shoes would dig into the snow tossing little snow peices off the back of my shoes. When we hit a big hill I would dig in and try to tear up the hill.  a dog on either side, looking at me with those eyes that said…come on… faster…..beat the hill….. race me… Nothing quite like the site of 2 dogs in they’re element loving life. Working.

Another week

Filed under: Training — beatcancer @ 4:11 pm

Another week down and another week beginning.  Always the best opportunity to look at how you did and how your going to do. Last week, none too good.  In my defence, it was the flu that got me down. I did manage to fight it off and get in some good miles by the weekend.  But no where near the 80 km i had planned. It is amazing how the phlem in the throat makes it hard to breath while running.

So it’s monday and i’m going to get off to a great start. Swim, bike and weights at the Y.

Congratulations to the Calgary Stampeders and they’re Grey Cup win.

Filed under: Training — beatcancer @ 12:06 pm

Oh yes,  Here it is upon us again.  Another Season of Santa Claus parades. looking outside at the first one here it appears to be raining. how perfect. I’m sick, have not trained in 2 days and now must dance down a street with my drum in the rain for an hour or so.  Sounds like fun. I’m off

Filed under: Training — beatcancer @ 3:09 pm

So, the first approach to Telus got a definate NO. I think I need to regroup and approach potential sponsors (Partners) a defferent way. More of a what’s in it for them.

Holy Cow MAN….a race from coast to coast

Filed under: Training — beatcancer @ 1:45 pm

I know! I haven’t blogged in ages. As usual it was because I did not know what to write as my idea of running across Canada raising money for the Cancer society and awareness for the  importance of physical fitness and a balanced diet (ie lifestyle) was at a another stand still. How er that stand still is no more. I have been Challenged. Well we all know I AM challenged…..lol, but this is a challenge in a race across this great country. This person wants to prove Aesop’s theory of the tortoise and the hare. That’s right.  He’s going to walk and I’m going to run….see how gets there first. It’s genius. More to come….
