Easter weekend

Filed under: Training — beatcancer @ 1:01 pm

Easter weekend came and went. As usual, I ate too much food, indulged in too much chocolate. So i was left asking myself on tuesday, why do i do this to myself. Well for one it is fun. I enjoy the food and chocolate. I simply must remind myself life IS all about balance. What goes in…must come out. I usually do one long run on sundays. this weeks would have been 15 miles. Instead I did 8 saturday and 13 sunday. Stil getting in a long run with a hill/long run in on saturday. Therefore burning more calories and hense being able to enjoy the food and drink more. Smiple mathmatics.

Aroudn the bay road race is coming……

Another Hard Run

Filed under: Training — beatcancer @ 12:17 pm
I’m really starting to like these morning 5k’s. It’s a great way to get things going in the morning. I do them at an easy pace…almost recovery run tempo. Meaning, I could carry on a conversations without getting winded. For me it’s about 10km per hour. Then 15 minutes of yoga, breakfast, walk the dogs then of to work.  After work, weights for an hour then today I did tempo runs. 2 sets of 15 min at a heart rate of 172-181. 15 minute warm up, set 1, 10 minute recovery, set 2, 15 minute cool down.  10 minutes stretching. Then the best part of it all..The sauna. A good dinner of chicken Veggies and yams, and I’m ready for bed…..lol All in all, I’d have to call it a good day.

Water

Filed under: Training — beatcancer @ 4:15 am

I don’t think i drank enough water today. it is hard to decifer how much water is enough.  some studies say 3 litres, others 60 ounces. Others say you should have to wake up in the middle of the night to pee. Or, your pee should be clear. I look at it like this. When my alarm goes off I should have to get up immediatly to pee.  This way it gets me out of bed….lol  However, it is hard to drink enough. and today i failed. I did get in a great snowshoeing expedition with lex and Nala for an hour and another hour of strength training. Need to work on the water thing.
