Bremshey Treadmill

Filed under: Training — beatcancer @ 2:42 pm

So our new treadmill came. The guys set it up. We had to wait over night to use it so it gets to temperature.  I got on it and setup a program that would keep my heartrate at 150 for 40 minutes. What it does is speed up slow down raise the incline and lower the incline  in order to keep your heart rate where i asked it to be. There’s a wireless monitor. Pretty cool.  My heart rate was a little high at one point…..so i heard the motor kick in to lower the incline and just then there was a super loud explosion ( bang) joined with a big flash of blue light. I jumped off and turned it off and unpluged it and called the warrenty guys. Who is comingto fix it today. My thought though is”do I want to keep this one?” it broke after 25 minutes of use………..

Should make for a pleasurable winter of training.  Now don’t get me wrong…..I’m not going to stop going outside. Running in the winter weather we get in Canada is what makes me Canadian. However, It will be great to do long runs and even tereeain training runs. Alsoa great way to watch sunday football. I getto do my long runs and not miss the game….alll modern technology……

On a training note….Snow shoeing is and OUTSTANDING form of cross training during the winter. With all this snow were getting, I’m looking forward to using them a ton. I’m sure Lex ( my dog) will love that. Carpe diem

5 km race

Filed under: Training — beatcancer @ 3:36 am

another personal best on the weekend. 21:27 for the 5km. which beats last week by like 6 seconds. according to the garmin it was .13 miles longer..which is even better i guess. came in 76 out of about 1100. I really want to finish higher and be faster, but i have o keep remembering i am training for long distance. not short. non need hurting myself senslessly. Then where would I be. I snet my executive summary off to the guys in the group. I hope they like it and its good. Waiting to find out sucks….next up…new years eve run.

Participaction

Filed under: Training — beatcancer @ 5:19 am

Well, It looks like some people may very well be looking for what me and the guys on the trek team are intending to do. not that im saying anything here, but the thought does get me excited.

Started to attempt getting back to normal training now that the head ache is gone. By I am constantly tapped. I wonder if my body is trying to recover still. How much of a toll does a 28 day headache take on the body? Had a race today. little 5km santa shuffle. The proceeds go to childrens foundationg across canada, and there all run by running rooms. lots of people showed up, it was good. I came in second. first ever place in a race.
