Hello

Filed under: Daily Thoughts, Training — beatcancer @ 7:21 pm

Been a long week, Started with the funeral, and the drive to Cornwall. Which brings me to some thoughts.

1. Why is it that when I order a coffee at Tim Horton’s in the city, and have only 10-15 minutes to drink it before getting to my destination, it’s too hot to drink for 10-15 minutes and I have to take the coffee in with me where im going.  Now everyone can smell the coffee and see the container and get a craving. However, when im on the 401 and stop to get a coffee it’s at the perfect drinking temperature right away and only lasts 10-15 minutes before getting cold.  And then I can stop at every Tim Horton’s along the way which of course there is one every 70km’s or so…..planned marketing or coincidence.???

2. Why is it that when your on the 401 and out of the city…..(far side of whitby-to-quebec) drivers use the passing lane only to pass. Yet as soon as you hit the middle of Whitby and straight through to Burlington, drivers start driving in the passing lane. Like they forget why the lanes are designed the way they are, and stop passing in the driving lane….hmmmmm Food for thought. Anyways…I look forward to your comments on those….

This was an active recovery week for my. Meaning….little running and more cross training. This enables my running muscles to heal while my cardio and endurance is still utilized. So I biked at the gym 3 times, lifted weights twice. Plus did the 13 running miles required. Once in a 4 mile 30 minute jaunt…which by the way felt awesome.  Then after a REALLY hard bike session I jumped on the tread mill right away and did a sub 7 minute mile..and it felt AWSOME. Also a 5 mile run  and a 3. Now Im getting ready for Super bowl 41. Im not putting my pick on here as it may jinx me. Happy Super bowl……………..

p.s. Casey Says I should be a man and put my pick on here……So I will go as far a saying I like horses…..

Poor Tony Romo

Filed under: Daily Thoughts — beatcancer @ 4:15 pm

Man……can anyone be any more mean to Mr. Romo?

Without him the Cowboys aren’t in the playoffs.

He comes in…saves the season…gets them to the playoffs. Wildcard Seattle game….Owens drops a few KEY passes…..Terry Glenn fumbles and gives Seattle a safety and the ball where they score. Some POOR defense plays on that drive.  Then Romo takes the team down to the 11 yard line with 3 minutes left. 3 WHOLE MINUTES. Instead of scoring a sure lead fast and trusting your defense to hold Seattle. Parcells tries to drain the clock and get a first down at the 1 without scoring?????? What take the damn points. After draining almost 2 minutes off the clock its fourth down and you have to kick the extra point feild goal.  Look at history….whenever a play like that is botched its alwys in a hire pressure situation. My guess…..Romo forgot to lick his fingers before the snap…hense ball slipped when he put pressure on it with his fingers to hold it up right.  So imagine what is going through his mind..”i jsut ruined our season, holy shit”….no he has the common sense to pick it up and run to the end zone. almost makes it by a yard….almost a first down…then he would have been the hero.  Hero to zero in less then an inch……and that is the story of foolball.

Did 7.25 miles. Felt good Stonrg at the end, but little rough getting going.

Bye Grandpa

Filed under: Daily Thoughts — Steve Gaul @ 5:47 pm

Its been a while since my last entry….not been training much…still having foot problems.pain…few short runs here and there to test things.

Said bye to my Grandpa tonight. How does one go about doing that……He’s in a hospice and his body is giving up quickly. They said he propably won’t last the night, hard to say goodbye. Especially when its permanent. I always used to say to him “i’ll see you soon”. But I Coudn’t say that this time. I will miss him. Bye Grandpa
